Three-Day Mid-Autumn Holiday: All the Free Events in Shenzhen at a Glance
The 2026 Mid-Autumn holiday on the mainland runs from September 25 (Friday) to 27 (Sunday) — three days with no make-up workdays. Shenzhen's three-day Mid-Autumn holiday has no traffic restrictions, but Mid-Autumn is not one of the holidays with free expressway tolls.
Beyond the Michelin Food Festival at MixC Luohu, a batch of newly announced Mid-Autumn events are happening across Shenzhen's districts, all with free admission. This guide is organised by district — Luohu / Futian / Nanshan / Bao'an — and notes the metro line and exit for each venue, so you can head straight there after crossing at any checkpoint.
1. Bao'an District: Two Brand-New Markets and Performances
(1) Bao'an Rainbow Shopping Centre "Thousand Lanterns Mirror the Moon · Gui Dian Moon Worship Ceremony"
The most ceremonial event this Mid-Autumn: the mall is running a full day of Chinese-style activities, all free with no booking required.

Except for the parade, which is indoors in the mall, all activities take place on the plaza outside Gate 3 on L1. Location: Rainbow Shopping Centre, Bao'an Central District, Bao'an District, Shenzhen; Transport: Metro Line 1 / Line 5, Bao'an Center Station.
(2) Shenzhen Mid-Autumn Moon Market
September 25–27, 11:00–21:00, at Bao'an · Taihua Wutong Village (opposite Bao'an One Avenue). The market brings together Chinese-style goods, Mid-Autumn limited editions and seasonal local snacks — free entry, pay for what you consume. Taihua Wutong Village is itself a leafy little village shaded by banyan trees, the most comfortable spot to stroll with kids at Mid-Autumn.
Transport: Metro Line 1 / Line 5, Bao'an Center Station Exit F, about an 8-minute walk (right next to Bao'an One Avenue).
2. Futian District: 80 Craft Beers Festival + Picasso Print Exhibition
(3) Bay Area Craft Beer Festival
September 25–27, 16:00–21:00, at Link CentralWalk, G/F West Plaza, Futian District (Link CentralWalk is the former Shenzhen CentralWalk, connected to Shopping Park). This year features over 80 craft beers, with stamp-collecting, lucky draws and live music on site; free entry, drinks at your own expense.
Transport: Metro Line 1 / Line 4, Convention & Exhibition Center Station — the mall is right at the exit.
(4) Guan Shanyue Art Museum "The Charm of Multiplicity — International Print Exhibition"
Exhibition period September 11 to October 7, 2026, featuring 156 works (sets) of prints from 17 countries, covering all four major printmaking techniques: relief, intaglio, planographic and stencil. Highlights include Picasso's print "Lapis Lazuli in Action: Dove", shown to the public for the first time, alongside works by Miró, Dalí, Zao Wou-Ki, Andy Warhol and other masters. Free, no booking required.

Co-organised by Nanshan Museum and the Suzhou Wu Culture Museum, this exhibition brings 244 pieces/sets of pouch treasures, showcasing embroidery craftsmanship from the Qing dynasty to the Republic of China era. Exhibition period September 19, 2026 to January 17, 2027, located in Special Exhibition Hall No. 4 on the third floor, with a guided tour by a specialist at 15:00 on every open day. Free, no booking required.
Location: 2093 Nanshan Avenue, Nanshan District, Shenzhen; Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday 10:00–18:00 (last entry 17:30), Saturday evening session until 21:00, closed Mondays; Transport: Metro Line 1 / Line 12, Taoyuan Station Exit B, about a 5-minute walk.

4. Luohu District: ADC Mid-Autumn Fun Shopping Festival

ADC (Art Design Center) is located on Zhanyi Road, Sungang, Luohu — a soft-furnishing art complex converted from old warehouse blocks, home to over 1,000 shops of diverse styles: imported homeware, vintage finds, art sculptures and soft-furnishing objects all under one roof. This Mid-Autumn it hosts the "Mid-Autumn Fun Shopping Festival", free with no booking required, with activities continuing through the National Day period — ideal for anyone looking for home inspiration or buying souvenirs.
Transport: Metro Line 7, Hongling North Station, about a 3-minute walk.
5. Staying in Hong Kong? Victoria Park Lantern Carnival + Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance
- Hong Kong International Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival: September 17–27, 2026, Victoria Park, nightly 18:30–23:00 (extended to 12 midnight on the day of Mid-Autumn), free admission. Lanterns from 20 countries and regions plus Nanjing Qinhuai lanterns.
- Mid-Autumn Light Installations: September 17 to October 11, Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza, free.
- Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance: three nights on September 24 (welcoming the moon), 25 (Mid-Autumn day itself) and 26 (chasing the moon), roughly 19:30–22:00; the best viewing spot is Wun Sha Street; MTR Island Line Tin Hau Station Exit A1, 5–8 minutes on foot. Arrive by 18:00–18:30 to secure a spot.
6. Transport: How to Plan Your Itinerary from Three Checkpoints
- From Luohu Checkpoint: Line 1 straight up, two stops to Guomao / Grand Theatre — smoothest for Luohu ADC and MixC Luohu.
- From Futian Checkpoint: Line 4 down to Convention & Exhibition Center Station for Link CentralWalk; transfer to Line 3 at the same station for Guan Shanyue Art Museum (Lianhuacun Station).
- From Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint: Board at Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint Station on Line 13 — most convenient for Nanshan Museum (Taoyuan Station); transfer to Line 1 for Bao'an Center Station.
Practical Tips
- Don't try to do it all in one day: The six venues above span Luohu, Futian, Nanshan and Bao'an — two in a day is already pushing it; split across two days by checkpoint.
- Work around the hours: Markets all run afternoon to night (busiest after 16:00), while museums and art galleries open at 10:00 and stop entry at 17:30 — keep the two types in separate time slots.
- Booking and QR codes: Although Shenzhen's museums and art galleries are free, holiday crowd control may require temporary QR code registration — bring your phone and a mainland number to be safe.
- Bring cash and small change: Some small market stalls don't accept foreign cards — only RMB QR payment or cash.

3. Will border crossings be very crowded during the Mid-Autumn holiday?
Yes. The three-day Mid-Autumn holiday is a short break, and Luohu and Futian checkpoints are busiest from 7–10 am and 6–8 pm. To avoid the crowds, choose Shenzhen Bay or Liantang Checkpoint, or cross between 6:30 and 7:00 am.
4. Are the exhibitions open on Mondays?
Both Nanshan Museum and Guan Shanyue Art Museum close on Mondays (except public holidays). The 2026 Mid-Autumn holiday falls Friday to Sunday, so all three days are open; check individual venues' holiday arrangements for National Day on October 1.
