The Hong Kong and Shenzhen governments have officially signed the Cooperation Arrangement on Implementing "One-stop Clearance" at Huanggang Port, confirming that the rebuilt Huanggang Port will adopt the "one-stop clearance" model. The Hong Kong Port Area has also been activated, making crossings via Huanggang much faster from now on.
What's different about the new Huanggang Port?
✅ Joint inspection, one-time release
The most annoying part of the old Huanggang Port was the "two inspections at two locations" system, where travellers had to get on and off repeatedly for two rounds of checks. The new joint inspection building has switched to "one-stop clearance," adopting the innovative "joint inspection, one-time release" model — travellers only need to scan their documents once, verify fingerprints and facial recognition once, and can complete both exit and entry procedures simultaneously.
✅ Significantly shorter clearance times
Previously, crossing during peak hours could easily take over 30 minutes. The new model is expected to slash clearance time to as little as 5 minutes.
✅ 24-hour passenger inspection service
The new Huanggang Port will eliminate cargo inspection functions and focus on providing 24-hour passenger inspection services — for late-night trips to the mainland for shopping or returning to Hong Kong, Huanggang has always been the only option, and now it's faster too.
When will it be available?
The Cooperation Arrangement has been signed, and the Hong Kong Port Area is now under the jurisdiction of the SAR government in accordance with Hong Kong law and has been activated. The rebuilt Huanggang Port will be fully operational within the current government's term, adopting the brand-new clearance model.
