When it comes to border crossings into Shenzhen, many Hong Kongers immediately think of Futian or Luohu, but in fact the Liantang／Heung Yuen Wai Control Point has become the "new favourite" in recent years: newer facilities, relatively fewer crowds, plus parking and MTR connections — especially convenient for residents of the New Territories East.
What is the Liantang／Heung Yuen Wai Control Point?
Liantang Port (known as Heung Yuen Wai Control Point on the Hong Kong side) connects Hong Kong's New Territories East with Liantang in Luohu District, Shenzhen. It is a relatively new land boundary crossing that focuses on "direct access for people and vehicles": the Hong Kong side has a public car park, and on the Shenzhen side you step out straight into the Liantang commercial area and metro station.
Opening Hours
The Liantang／Heung Yuen Wai Control Point is open daily from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm (subject to the latest announcement from the Hong Kong government; hours may be extended during holidays). Note: it is not open 24 hours — for late-night crossings, choose Huanggang instead.

Hong Kong Side
- Bus: Citybus B7／B8, KMB 79K and other routes go directly to Heung Yuen Wai Control Point
- Minibus: some green minibus routes serve the crossing (check the Transport Department's latest announcements)
- Driving: public car park available on the Hong Kong side (booking recommended)
Shenzhen Side
- Shenzhen Metro: Line 2, Liantang Station (a few minutes' walk after clearing customs)
- Bus: multiple Shenzhen bus routes provide connections
- Liantang Commercial Area: shopping malls and restaurants nearby
