After nearly two years of renovation, Shenzhen's oldest Shenzhen Children's Park finally reopened on August 16, 2026! Originally built in 1987 as the first children's municipal park in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, this upgrade is all about "free play for everyone" — free entry, unlimited access to the non-powered playgrounds, and even the amusement rides start at just ¥9 per ride. Incredible value for money, it has already become a new hotspot for Hong Kong families crossing the border to entertain their kids.
📍 Super Convenient Location: Just a Few Metro Stops from Luohu Port
The park is located at 12 Tongle Road, Luohu District (near Dongmen Old Street). After crossing at Luohu Port, it's just a few metro stops away — perfect for a weekend day trip with the family.
- Metro: Line 3, get off at "Shaibu Station" (C exit) and walk to the park
- Bus: Take a bus to "Children's Park Station" and get off
🆓 Five Free Non-Powered Themed Playgrounds (Unlimited Play with Entry)
The park is divided into "active north, tranquil south" zones. In the south are five free non-powered playgrounds, with something for everyone from toddlers to older kids:
- Rat Sand Mine: China's first dynamic micro-terrain playground, featuring a 300 sqm white sand pit with 12 types of exploration trails and over 80 ways to play with sand — a firm favourite with little ones.
- Horse Paradise: A large zodiac-themed maze with over 120 exploration modules plus an elevated climbing and obstacle complex, and it also includes an accessible play area for children with disabilities.
- Forest Exploration (Monkey Playground): Forest treehouses built around the original mature trees, with over 300 sqm of 3D climbing nets, forest trampolines, zip lines and log balance bridges — plenty of tree canopy for shade and cool relief.
- Stream Valley Water Play Area: A "hydro-powered" playground converted from the original lake area, featuring water slides, fountains, water curtains, wave surges and a dozen other interactive water games — perfect for cooling off in summer.
- Hillside Stroll: A low-altitude forest obstacle course combining lawns and simulated barriers, designed to help kids train their balance and build physical fitness.

The "Star Height Dream Park" in the north is the only paid area in the entire park. Its 20 whimsical themed mechanical rides are priced in three tiers — ¥9, ¥15 and ¥19 — with very family-friendly pricing:
- Little Elephant Swing (¥19): The most thrilling ride in the park, with a maximum tilt angle of 110 degrees. A must-try for older kids and adults who love a bit of G-force.
- Space Walk: A 500+ metre elevated track circling the park — hop on board and take in panoramic views of the whole park, complete with a misting system to keep you cool.
- Carousel (¥9): A classic family favourite that little ones adore.
- Park Sightseeing Train (¥19): One ticket takes you on a full loop of the park — ideal for families with elderly members or those who'd rather not walk too much.
⏰ Opening Hours + Important Notes
- Park opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 06:00–23:00; the ride area (Star Height Dream Park) 09:00–22:00
- ⚠️ Closed on Mondays: From August 24, 2026, the entire park will be closed every Monday for maintenance (postponed to the next day if it falls on a public holiday). Be sure to avoid Mondays when planning your visit.
- Admission: Free entry; mechanical rides are individually priced at ¥9–¥19
💡 Family tips: For the Stream Valley Water Play Area, remember to bring a change of clothes; although the park has plenty of shade, you'll still need sun protection in summer; weekdays are quieter, while weekends are livelier — each offers a different experience.
