Shenzhen's night markets are a fixture on any visitor's itinerary, but sticking to Dongmen alone would be a waste — every district in Shenzhen has a night market street that only locals know about, with prices ranging from ¥1 per grilled oyster to ¥30 per person. This guide is organised by border crossing and covers 10 verified night markets and food streets.
Most night markets only start opening stalls after 5pm, so a daytime visit will find them empty; the best time to go is between 18:00 and 22:00.
1. From Luohu Checkpoint
1. Railway Station Food City — 3 minutes from Luohu Checkpoint
Opened in September 2025, this is the food city closest to Luohu Checkpoint, just a 3-minute walk away. Cooked-food restaurants and stalls are concentrated here, with snacks, noodles, hotpot and desserts all available. Recommended: Mr Dong's handmade chicken cutlet bun, Fried Dumpling King and Typhoon Shelter Milk Tea.

2. Xiangxicun Food Street — Luohu's "chicken pot street"
Xiangxicun is an old-school food street in Luohu, known for chicken pot, barbecue and late-night stir-fries. At night the whole street is lit up with neon signs — gather a group, order a chicken pot with a few beers, and it works out to about ¥60 per person.

2. From Futian Checkpoint
3. Shuiwei Night Market — one of the closest night markets to Hong Kong
Shuiwei is in Futian District, near Futian Checkpoint, and is one of the night markets closest to Hong Kong. Here you can try Heilongjiang grilled cold noodles, rarely found in Hong Kong, as well as marinated seafood, fried skewers and rice cakes. The coffee shop inside the night market, "Fukang Lou", serves East-meets-West specialty coffee, such as a latte with chilli and cinnamon.

4. Niuxiangfang — Futian Village's Chaoshan night market
Futian Village is known as the second hometown of Chaoshan people in Shenzhen. Niuxiangfang is 292 metres long and has nearly 30 restaurants and stalls, with Chaoshan dai pai dong, stir-fries, goose shops, braised hotpot, pickled fruit and pastries all on offer. The location is excellent: one stop from Huanggang Checkpoint and two stops from Futian Checkpoint.

3. From Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint (Nanshan and Bao'an)
5. Xili Wangtang Night Market — a student late-night favourite with over 100 stalls
Located in Nanshan District near Shenzhen Polytechnic University, prices here are aimed at students, with around 100-plus stalls and spending of ¥10 to ¥30 per person. Popular stalls with queues include the alley fish meat and egg burger, crispy fried mushrooms and the internet-famous egg-filled pancake.

6. Lefan Night Market — direct from Fanshen Station in Bao'an, famous for desserts
A popular night market well known to locals in Bao'an District, reachable directly from Fanshen Station. Fried rice noodles, takoyaki, bobo chicken and teppanyaki tofu are all here, and each stall has smart sensors monitoring cooking fumes and noise in real time. The most popular items are the sweet soups and desserts: Thai iced cocoa, ice cream glutinous rice balls, and purple rice taro paste pork floss glutinous rice balls.

7. Yantian Community Night Market — Shenzhen's longest night market, 280 metres
Located on Yantian Street in Bao'an District, it runs about 280 metres and is Shenzhen's longest night market, with over a hundred stalls offering snacks from different provinces and cities. Must-tries: egg-wrapped potato and grilled shaopi (sweet potato starch).

8. 103 Car Boot Market — Shenzhen's largest car boot night market
Located at Shenzhen Tea Expo Park, this is Shenzhen's largest car boot night market. Besides stinky tofu, big wontons and lava egg waffles, there's also sukiyaki, okonomiyaki, handmade beef burgers, takoyaki and Thai milk tea; once you've bought your food you can sit at the central tables to eat. During festivals such as Mid-Autumn and New Year, there are extra activities like pitch-pot, lantern riddles and live performances.
- Transport: Henggang Station Exit B, Line 3, then transfer to Shenzhen Bus M563 to Sanjiaolong Station, then about a 7-minute walk

9. Yangang Night Market — the only night market with a sea view
One of the few night markets in Shenzhen with a sea view, it sits on a hill and the viewing platform looks out over Yantian Port at night. Camping chairs inside can be moved around freely, making it great for those who don't want to be squeezed in a crowd. Note that food prices here are higher than at other night markets, since there are no other markets nearby.

10. Luoruihe Food Street — ¥1 per grilled oyster
An old street that has been running for over 20 years. Must-eats include ¥1 grilled oysters and oyster omelette, plus Taiwanese snacks, Chaoshan snacks and beef offal. Every day from around five or six in the afternoon, stallholders start setting up and the restaurants on both sides of the street light up.

What's the best time to go to a night market?
Most night markets only start opening at 17:00 to 18:00, and are busiest with the most stalls between 20:00 and 22:00; to avoid the crowds, arrive around 18:00, when the food selection is already complete but it isn't yet at its most packed.
Can I use electronic payments?
More than 90% of stalls accept WeChat Pay or Alipay (including the Hong Kong version linked to a Hong Kong card), but signal at night markets can be unstable, so it's best to carry ¥100 to ¥200 in cash as a backup.
Which night market is good for bringing children?
Railway Station Food City (near the checkpoint, covered) and Lefan Night Market (with sweet desserts and a seating area) are more suitable; the car boot market has plenty of space, but some stalls are smoky.
From Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint, which is the closest?

- Most night markets are outdoors and stalls pack up when it rains, so check the weather before setting out
- For seafood and oyster stalls, pick the ones with the most foot traffic — ingredients turn over faster and are fresher
- Prices on the same street can differ by double, so walk to the end before deciding which stall to patronise
- Taxis are hard to flag around night markets; for the return trip, use Didi or walk back to the metro station
5. Dongmen Old Street + Dongmen Town Food City: the most classic street-food spot (Luohu)
If you're only going to one night market, Dongmen Old Street is the most familiar and convenient answer — about a 10-minute walk after clearing Luohu Checkpoint, or take Line 1/3 to "Laojie Station" and Exit B puts you right there.
- Dongmen Old Street / Dongmen Pedestrian Street (around Xingjian Road, Luohu District; Laojie Station Exits A/B/C/D/E, Line 1/3): Shenzhen's most iconic old street, lively from about 18:00 at night, with some stalls open until 2am. Laojie Station Exit A leads directly to Sun Plaza, while Exit D is the main entrance to the pedestrian street and the "Dongmen Town" neon sign photo spot.
- Dongmen Town Food City (first floor of Dongmen Town Food Plaza, near Laojie Station): over 200 snack stalls across two floors — the first floor is mainly street snacks from around the country, the second floor is hotpot and dine-in; about ¥20 per person and you'll be stuffed. Must-tries: Bage hot and sour noodles (about ¥10/bowl), takoyaki (about ¥15/6 pieces), Taiwanese oyster omelette (about ¥20), Granny's beef offal (about ¥20), Alin fried dough stick with mochi (about ¥15).
- Dongmen Town Happy City (opposite Dongmen Town, five floors of indoor entertainment): after eating you can head upstairs to play, with an arcade, escape rooms, archery, go-karts and a VR hall; on the 2nd floor, "Heke Arcade" gives 16 tokens for ¥8.8, and an all-you-can-play package is about ¥188 — something to do even when it rains.

A reminder: some of the old-established shops on Dongmen Old Street only accept cash, so it's safest to bring a small amount with you; when it's crowded, keep an eye on your phone and belongings. If you want seafood skewers, ask "how much per catty" before ordering at the dai pai dong around the old street.
