The Qianhai and Bao'an area in western Shenzhen has developed rapidly in recent years: skyscrapers, waterfront parks, and mega malls have sprung up one after another, making it a new hotspot for Hong Kongers heading north. It's convenient to get to from Shenzhen Bay Port or the airport, making it perfect for a day trip.
🎡 Bay Glory (Huanle Gangwan) — Waterfront Park + Ferris Wheel
Bay Glory (in Bao'an District) is one of the hottest photo spots in recent years: it features the giant "Bay Glory" Ferris wheel, a seaside promenade, musical fountains, and restaurants and bars. The Ferris wheel lights up beautifully at dusk, and walking along the waterfront to watch the sunset is top-notch. Entry to the park is free; tickets are needed for the Ferris wheel.
🏬 Uniwalk (Yifangcheng) — Mega Mall
Uniwalk (in Bao'an Center) is one of Shenzhen's largest malls — you could spend a whole day there and still not see everything: a full range of brands, plenty of restaurants, plus a cinema and kids' area. It's directly accessible via Bao'an Center Metro Station, and there are plenty of dining options nearby afterward.
🌳 Qianhai Stone Park / Qianhai Waterfront
Qianhai Stone Park is Qianhai's landmark park, featuring the "Qianhai Stone" sculpture and a waterfront walkway overlooking the entire Qianhai CBD and Shenzhen Bay. It's quiet and uncrowded — ideal for a leisurely stroll and some downtime, and completely free.
🏙️ Kerry Parkside Qianhai / MixC Qianhai
Qianhai has quite a few new malls (such as MixC Qianhai), with fresh, modern surroundings and mid-to-upper-range brands — a comfortable shopping experience. There are also plenty of high-quality restaurants and cafés nearby.
