Shenzhen's indoor entertainment scene has moved well past escape rooms and go-karting. In 2026 you can walk through a Luoyang palace in a 3,000 sq m full-sensory VR park, wander a 1:1 digital Giza pyramid, watch an immersive physical-theatre piece performed on a converted cruise ship, or simply stand inside a mirrored star-field hall for photos. This guide lists ten venues that actually operate today, with addresses, metro line and exit, ticket prices and booking channels, using operator sites, official mini-programs and bookable platforms (Klook, Trip.com, Hopetrip) as sources. Prices and hours change often, so always confirm on the official page before you travel.
1. Opportunity Space X-META Full-Sensory VR World (Happy Coast) - Nanshan
The flagship full-sensory VR park in South China, roughly 3,000 sq m across two themed halls, and the Shenzhen outpost of a brand that first took off in Shanghai. You do not just watch a screen: wind, heat, vibration, smell and a sense of weightlessness are all part of the show, with live actors guiding the story and costumes issued before you start. Headline themes include Wind Rising in Luoyang, co-produced with iQIYI, plus Love Between Fairy and Devil and the studio's own Ice and Snow Mountains and Seas, alongside sci-fi titles such as Mars Rescue and Kunlun Maze. Each theme runs 30 to 60 minutes, and there is an on-site X-BAR for drinks afterwards.
- Address: Unit 6, Qushuiwan, OCT Harbour, 2008 Binhai Avenue, Nanshan District (behind the Huawei store)
- Metro: Line 9 to Shenzhen Bay Park, Exit E, about a 5-minute walk
- Price: Klook lists single-theme tickets from HK$90 (about RMB 83); couple, group and multi-theme packages cost more
- Booking: book online via Klook or Trip.com (same-day bookings usually available) or call +86-176-8870-8325; arrive 10 to 30 minutes early
- Hours: daily 10:00-22:00
Notes: groups of fewer than eight may be combined with other players; not suitable during pregnancy or with heart or blood-pressure conditions; under-11s and over-60s should be accompanied; photography inside the VR zone is not allowed.
2. Boxin Universe Shenzhen Immersive Exploration Centre (Sea World Zone D) - Nanshan
This is the closest thing in Shenzhen to a museum-grade walk-around VR space. The indoor floor area is close to 2,800 sq m over three levels, and the content is produced by the French immersive studio Excurio, with a 1:1 reconstruction of the Great Pyramid and Impressionist scenes you physically walk through. A session lasts about 45 minutes. The Horizon of Khufu debuted here on 24 December 2024 with a published price of RMB 128, and the programme has since expanded with Paris 1874: An Impressionist Night and Life Chronicles. Entry is by timed slot, so latecomers lose part of the experience.
- Address: Zone D, Sea World, Shekou, Nanshan District (near the Wanghai Road and Gongye 3rd Road junction)
- Metro: Line 2 or Line 12 to Sea World, Exits A or C, a few minutes on foot
- Price: Trip.com lists Paris 1874 and Life Chronicles from TWD 640 (same price for adults and children); Horizon of Khufu is priced per session on the platform
- Booking: reserve a timed slot on Trip.com or KKday; walk-in slots are limited on busy days
3. The Deal, immersive physical theatre on the Minghua ship - Sea World, Nanshan
The Minghua, a retired cruise liner reborn as a performance complex, hosted the world premiere of Shenzhen's own The Deal on 1 October 2025, billed as China's first immersive physical-theatre production. The audience does not sit still: musicians play live while moving among the crowd, performers and spectators travel together, and the set changes as the story unfolds. It was produced by China Merchants Shekou with Amit Lahav, artistic director of Gecko Theatre, with support from the Shenzhen publicity authorities.
- Address: Minghua ship, Sea World, Shekou, Nanshan District
- Metro: Line 2 or Line 12 to Sea World, Exits A or C, a few minutes on foot
- Price: Trip.com lists tickets from TWD 2,472 (same price for adults and children), the most expensive item in this list
- Booking: buy through Trip.com or KKday; shows are limited, so book early, and wear comfortable shoes because you walk with the performance
4. VISION WALK (C Future City, Zhongzhouwan) - Futian
A walk-around VR brand incubated by Shenzhen's XVERSE (Yuanxiang) Technology, built around free-roaming multiplayer storytelling. Sessions run about 25 to 40 minutes, with titles such as Moon Landing Journey and The Everlasting Tang Dynasty. By the end of 2025 the brand covered 19 provinces, 33 cities and more than 50 venues; in Shenzhen there are also branches at Gankeng Ancient Town, Longgang Wanda and Longgang Vanke Li, so check on Amap or Dianping which one is nearest before you go. C Future City itself is a technology-and-art mall, so the visit pairs well with the public artworks in the atrium.
- Address: C Future City, 9283 Binhe Avenue, Futian District
- Metro: Line 9 to Xiasha, Exit B, about a 5-minute walk (Shangsha station also connects to the mall)
- Price: ticketing platforms such as Damai and Maoyan list roughly RMB 98 to RMB 108 depending on film length and session
- Booking: buy on Damai, Maoyan or Meituan; on weekdays you can usually just turn up and buy at the door
5. Illusion Space Super Metaverse (Shenzhen Eye) - Futian
If you want somewhere the whole family can enter and that photographs well, this is the Futian pick. It packages glasses-free 3D, VR, LED mega-screens, light effects and interactive games into one hall, with a dinosaur roller-coaster motion platform, an undersea zone and a suspended wraparound LED theatre that surrounds you from floor to ceiling. Some zones only react when you wave, step or strike a pose, which gives it more participation than a standard photo-op light exhibition.
- Address: Shenzhen Eye area, Futian District (near the Gangxia North interchange), following the underground passage signage
- Metro: Gangxia North (Lines 2, 10, 11 and 14), then follow mall and underground-space signs
- Price: online single tickets from about RMB 39.9, with double and family tickets also available; online is usually cheaper than the door
- Booking: buy on Meituan or Dianping; some slots allow same-day entry
- Hours: roughly 10:00-19:30 (last entry around 18:30); confirm with the platform or venue
6. Unicorn Starry Sky Art Museum (Dongmen Sun Plaza) - Luohu
Nicknamed Shenzhen's answer to teamLab, this is the quickest immersive light-and-mirror hall to reach after clearing the border, only a few metro stops from Luohu. More than 20 immersive scenes use interactive sensing plus mirrors and reflections; the star-field room is the crowd favourite, and there is a full wall of yellow ducks and screaming chickens, a blue-pink ball pit and a suspended glass theatre. Allow two hours if you like taking photos.
- Address: 6th floor, Sun Department Store, Dongmen Sun Plaza, Luohu District
- Metro: Line 1 or Line 3 to Laojie, Exits A or E
- Price: platform listings start from about RMB 39 for adults (Hopetrip and Klook show HK$42 and up), with child, student and double tickets available
- Hours: 10:00-22:00, until 22:30 on Saturday and Sunday
- Booking: buy on Klook or Hopetrip, or simply pay at the door; advance booking is usually unnecessary
7. Van Gogh Starry Sky Art Museum (Shenzhen store, Dongmen Maoye) - Luohu
Also in Dongmen, but with a Van Gogh theme: the paintings are made three-dimensional through optical illusions, an infinite star field, a diamond tunnel and a magic mirror maze, forming a walk-in, touchable 4D space. It is a photo-first venue with a high density of scenes, so go on a weekday or after 19:00 to avoid the weekend crush. The address has been cross-checked on the Amap merchant page: 8th floor (F8), Maoye Building, 2047 Dongmen Middle Road, Luohu District, with a phone number listed on site.
- Address: F8, Maoye Building, 2047 Dongmen Middle Road, Luohu District

8. Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum: Space Odyssey and Infinity War - Guangming
If you only want one place that combines a large-scale XR walk-around experience with proper science content, this 130,000 sq m "spaceship" in Guangming is it. The museum launched two immersive programmes in 2026. Space Odyssey is an XR large-space sci-fi adventure co-developed by PICO and Intel: about 36 minutes, ten zones and 17 scenes, set in 2099, with players leaving Mars for Titan and the diamond planet 55 Cancri e before a final battle in higher-dimensional space. The visuals are built to an 8K baseline and use in-house rendering to remove the usual VR screen-door effect. It runs from 19 July to 31 December 2026 in the second-floor zone. Infinity War is a 10-versus-10 large-space VR shooter combining high-precision motion tracking with full-body capture, so you can really sprint and dodge; it runs from 22 July to 31 December 2026 in Study Room 8 on the first floor.

10. Shenzhen Tourism VR Large Space: airport and Bao'an Youth Palace - Bao'an
Created by Shenzhen Tourism Industry Development with Shenzhen Airport Group and Bao'an Youth Palace, these two venues opened together on 11 November 2025. The airport branch sits on the second floor of the arrivals hall at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, inside the GTC transport hub, and uses a "VR headset plus Shenzhen-themed films plus immersive sets" format as a shop window for the city, so it works even on a layover. The Bao'an Youth Palace branch occupies the basement level and uses laser positioning and motion capture for multiplayer sessions themed around science exploration, historical re-enactment and space travel, aimed at families. Both are officially run, with tickets sold through the WeChat mini-program Shen Ai Piao.

Practical tips for Hong Kong visitors
- Real-name booking: public venues such as the Science and Technology Museum and the Natural History Museum require real-name tickets; the Home Return Permit works fine. Some mini-programs need a mainland mobile number for the verification code, so sort out a SIM or ask a companion to book.
- Payment: official mini-programs generally take WeChat Pay or Alipay, while Klook, Trip.com and Hopetrip accept Hong Kong cards. If you buy group vouchers on Meituan or Dianping, switch to the mainland wallet.
- Timing: weekend afternoons are busiest, especially in Dongmen and the Futian mall venues. Large-space VR venues combine small groups, so book a weekday slot if you want the room to yourselves.
- Comfort: large-space VR is active, so wear trainers and do not eat heavily beforehand. If you are prone to motion sickness, tell the staff and pick a gentler theme.
- Cameras: photography is usually banned in VR experience zones, but the light-and-mirror halls are the opposite, so bring a power bank.
- Getting there: Luohu and Guomao checkpoints feed the Dongmen cluster via Laojie; Futian checkpoint feeds C Future City and Shenzhen Eye via Xiasha and Gangxia North; Shenzhen Bay checkpoint feeds Happy Coast and Sea World via Shenzhen Bay Park and Sea World.
FAQ
Do I need to book Shenzhen VR venues in advance?
It depends on the type. Public venues such as the Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum and the Shenzhen Natural History Museum require real-name tickets bought in advance on their official mini-programs; the science museum releases tickets for the sixth day ahead daily at 20:00 and they sell out. Mall-based VR venues usually take same-day or walk-in bookings on weekdays, but reserve a slot online for weekends and holidays.
Can I buy tickets with a Home Return Permit?
Yes. Real-name booking at public venues accepts the Home Return Permit, and you show the same document at the gate. Third-party platforms such as Klook, Trip.com and Hopetrip normally just need a name and contact details. The only friction is mini-programs that require a mainland phone number for SMS verification.
Is it awkward to go alone?
No. X-META and VISION WALK both sell single tickets; some themes may put you in a shared group, and weekday opening slots are the easiest for having a room to yourself. Light-and-mirror halls are self-guided anyway, and going solo actually makes photography easier.
How big is the price gap?
On published platform prices the cheapest are Illusion Space from about RMB 39.9 and Unicorn Starry Sky from about RMB 39. Mid-range options are X-META single themes from HK$90 and VISION WALK at roughly RMB 98 to 108. The most expensive is The Deal on the Minghua ship, listed on Trip.com from TWD 2,472. Booking online on a weekday is the reliable way to save.
Are the venues suitable for children?
The Science and Technology Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Bao'an Youth Palace VR space and Illusion Space are all family-friendly. Some X-META themes, such as the apocalypse scenario, are scary, so for under-11s ask staff first. Most venues require children to hold their own ticket.
