Shenzhen has five or six outlets, and without doing your homework it's easy to walk until your legs give out and still come away empty-handed. In fact, two malls in half a day is plenty — the key is picking the right route: pair up malls on the same metro line so you're not doubling back.

Route A: Enter via Luohu Checkpoint (Maoye Outlets → Longhua 8 Outlet)
Stop 1: Maoye Outlets (Luohu Dongmen)
The outlet closest to Luohu Checkpoint — one metro stop after you clear customs. The mall has 5 floors: level one is sportswear and international brands, while floors two to five cover trendy shoes and bags, lingerie and fashion, menswear and kidswear. There are no large outlets in the Nanshan and Bao'an area, so if you enter via Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint, the smoothest option is Shanshan Outlets in Songgang, Bao'an: clear customs, take Line 13 into the city, then transfer to Line 6 to Xitou Station, or just call a car for about 40 minutes.

When are outlets cheapest?
Seasonal changeovers (March–April, September–October) and around the May Day and National Day holidays bring the biggest discounts, with some brands stacking extra reductions. Weekdays are quieter, so you won't queue for the fitting rooms; by the end of the month, sizes are usually picked over.
Is outlet stock old-season?
Mostly last season's stock or goods cleared from full-price stores, and sizes are incomplete. Go early if you want popular styles, and note that outlet purchases may not be returnable or exchangeable — try things on carefully before buying.
Can I return or exchange items?
