The best hotels near Shenzhen's land crossings are not the fanciest ones — they are the ones you can still walk to at 5am or at midnight. Since the new Huanggang Port opened on 12 October 2026 with 24-hour, one-stop clearance, a late-night crossing into Hong Kong no longer means gambling on the last bus. And for early trains, Luohu Port opens at 06:30 while the first metro train leaves Luohu Station at 06:20 — so if you sleep near Luohu Station, a 06:00 alarm is enough.
This guide is about walking distance and overnight connections: 10 real hotels that you can reach on foot from a port or from the port metro station, grouped by Luohu, Futian (including Huanggang) and Shenzhen Bay. Every entry lists the address, metro line and station, walking time, a reference room rate and an Amap navigation link. None of these hotels duplicate our two existing Shenzhen hotel guides.
📌 Rates were checked on booking platforms (Trip.com, Klook, KAYAK) on 12 October 2026 and can swing 30–40% between weekdays and weekends. Port opening hours and metro first/last trains follow the official notices of that date (links at the end). Always re-check live prices before booking.
Crossing hours: what is still open, and when?

Staying next to a border crossing is only useful if you match it to the port timetable. These are the official opening hours published by the Shenzhen Port Office (effective 12 October 2026):
| Port | Opening hours | Metro at the port | What overnight travellers should know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Luohu Port | 06:30–24:00 | Luohu Station, Line 1 (inside the port transport building) | Opens earliest and closes latest — best for early trains |
| Futian Checkpoint | 06:30–22:30 | Futian Checkpoint Station, Lines 4 and 10 (ground floor of the terminal) | Shuts at 22:30 — after that you must switch to Huanggang |
| New Huanggang Port | 24 hours | Huanggang Port Station, Line 7 (via the cross-border footbridge) | 24-hour clearance from 12 October 2026; the only road crossing after midnight |
| Shenzhen Bay Port | 06:30–24:00 | Shenzhen Bay Port Station, Line 13 | The natural choice for overnight stays in Nanshan or Shekou |
| Shekou Cruise Homeport | 07:00–22:30 | Taizi Bay Station, Line 12 (about 5 minutes on foot) | Ferries to China Ferry Terminal or Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal — easiest with luggage |
- First and last trains (official timetables): Luohu Station on Line 1 — first train 06:20, last train 23:00 on weekdays (06:14 at weekends); Futian Checkpoint Station on Line 4 — 06:30 to 23:00; Shenzhen Bay Port Station on Line 13 — 06:30 to 23:00.
- The reality after midnight: of the three road crossings, only New Huanggang Port stays open past 24:00. If you are catching a red-eye flight or leaving a concert late, book in Huanggang or Futian, not Luohu.
- Line 13 now runs north to Guangming: the Shenzhen Transport Bureau confirmed the northern extension opened on 28 June 2026, so Shenzhen Bay Port Station now connects in one ride towards Shiyan and Guangming Science City.

1. Luohu Port area: step off the bridge and you are there (4 hotels)
Luohu Port opens straight onto Luohu Commercial City and Shenzhen Railway Station, and the hotel cluster starts on the same street. The appeal here is that you never need a taxi: drag your suitcase from the lobby to the arrivals hall in 5 to 15 minutes.
1. Shangri-La Shenzhen
1002 Jianshe Road, Luohu District, on the east side of Shenzhen Railway Station. The hotel's own website states an 8-minute walk to Luohu Port and about 300 m to Luohu Commercial City — the shortest officially published distance of the four Luohu picks. Both Luohu Station (Line 1) and Renmin South Station (Line 9) are walkable. There are 522 rooms, an outdoor pool, a 31st-floor revolving restaurant and rooms facing the New Territories hills. Note this is the Luohu property, not the Futian Shangri-La on Yitian Road.
📍 Address: 1002 Jianshe Road, Luohu|🚇 Luohu Station (Line 1) / Renmin South Station (Line 9), about 8 minutes on foot to the port|💰 From HK$754 per night (KAYAK, late September 2026); Trip.com lists rates from US$80|🕐 24-hour front desk
2. Innogo Hotel Shenzhen (Luohu Port)
Floors 1–5, Huizhan Pavilion, 1008 Jianshe Road — a four-star art hotel created with young Greater Bay Area artists. Its location is the selling point: the hotel states it is about 100 m from Luohu Station (Line 1) and Renmin South Station (Line 9), roughly 480 m from Luohu Port, and just 40 m from Luohu coach station, so arriving, crossing and returning are all a few minutes apart. If you want to sleep by the port without paying five-star prices, start here.
📍 Address: Floors 1–5, Huizhan Pavilion, 1008 Jianshe Road, Luohu|🚇 Luohu Station (Line 1) / Renmin South Station (Line 9) about 100 m; about 480 m from Luohu Port|💰 From HK$381 per night (Trip.com, rated 9.5/10)
3. Felicity Hotel Shenzhen
1085 Heping Road, at the west exit of Shenzhen Railway Station. Both the hotel's own site and booking platforms describe it as sitting opposite Luohu Port and the railway station, about five minutes on foot from Luohu Commercial City and five to ten minutes from Luohu metro station. It is an established property with 152 rooms, a gym and a sauna, often sold with a free room upgrade, and priced below the newer hotels around it — a good fit if you want a late return with minimal walking.
📍 Address: 1085 Heping Road, Luohu|🚇 About 5 minutes on foot to Luohu Station (Line 1)|💰 From ¥352 per night (Klook 30-day low reference); Booking lists rates from about US$45
4. Huaqiao Hotel Shenzhen
1009 Heping Road, Luohu District. The official description is explicit: immediately beside Luohu Port, Shenzhen Railway Station and the metro entrance, a short walk from Guomao and Dongmen pedestrian street, and one of the closest hotels to Hong Kong. It sits about 700 m from Luohu Station, is a three-star property under the Shenzhen Tourism Group, and has a small room count with older fittings — but it is the cheapest entry in this guide, ideal if all you want is a bed before an early train. Book early at weekends.
📍 Address: 1009 Heping Road, Luohu|🚇 About 700 m from Luohu Station (Line 1)|💰 Reference room rate from ¥221 (Huixiaoer); booking platforms list from about HK$212
2. Futian and Huanggang: early coaches and 24-hour clearance (3 hotels)
Two crossings share this area: Futian Checkpoint (06:30–22:30, linked to MTR Lok Ma Chau) and New Huanggang Port, which moved to 24-hour one-stop clearance from 06:30 on 12 October 2026. This is where you stay for red-eye arrivals, late concerts or the 06:30 first crossing. Bear in mind the new port runs as a restricted zone — no private car park and no ride-hailing pick-up inside — so being within walking distance matters more than being 10 minutes away by car.
5. Hampton by Hilton Shenzhen Futian Port
38 Yuheng Road, Futian District — the street the checkpoint itself sits on. Booking platforms measure about 320 m to Futian Checkpoint Station (Line 4), and the hotel states it is located at Futian Port; the terminal's ground floor connects directly to Lines 4 and 10. There is a 24-hour gym, a laundry room and floor-to-ceiling windows in the rooms, making this the area's rare international chain — the pick if you are travelling with children or want predictable standards. Rates are noticeably higher, so aim for a weekday.
📍 Address: 38 Yuheng Road, Futian|🚇 About 320 m to Futian Checkpoint Station (Lines 4 and 10)|💰 From ¥710 / HK$843 per night (Klook rate table; deluxe king around HK$1,025)
6. IntercityHotel Shenzhen Futian Huanggang
28 Fumin Road, Futian District. The hotel states it is 500 m from Huanggang Port, a 5–7 minute walk, and less than 100 m from Huanggangcun Station on Line 7 — the most concrete walking distance in this guide. IntercityHotel is a German brand with a simple, practical room style, a 24-hour front desk and free luggage storage. With New Huanggang Port running around the clock, the real value here is being able to walk to the border at 3am instead of waiting for a bus.
📍 Address: 28 Fumin Road, Futian|🚇 About 100 m to Huanggangcun Station (Line 7); about 500 m to Huanggang Port (5–7 minute walk)|💰 From HK$700 per night (Trip.com reference, rated 9.7/10)
7. Chenduo Hotel (Shenzhen Futian Huanggang Port Metro Station)
Huanggang Highway Building, 28 Futian South Road, Futian District, roughly 790 m — about 13 minutes — on foot from Huanggang Port Station on Line 7, with the port's bus and taxi lanes downstairs. This small three-star has projector cinema rooms and voice-controlled lighting, and the lowest rate in this guide: from HK$102. It suits a solo quick trip or anyone who just wants a bed for a few hours before crossing. Check-in often starts at 12:00 or 14:00, so confirm timing before you book.
📍 Address: Huanggang Highway Building, 28 Futian South Road, Futian|🚇 About 790 m on foot from Huanggang Port Station (Line 7)|💰 From HK$102 per night (Trip.com, rated 9.1/10)
3. Shenzhen Bay Port: one or two metro stops, sea views, malls (3 hotels)
Shenzhen Bay Port runs 06:30–24:00 and links straight to Shenzhen Bay Port Station on Line 13 (06:30–23:00) — one stop to Talent Park, two to Houhai. Hotels here are newer and larger with plenty of sea views, but the price spread is the widest in the city, from HK$347 to HK$2,820 a night. This is the area to pick for malls, spas and waterfront walks.
8. Raffles Shenzhen
T7, One Shenzhen Bay, 3008 Zhongxin Road, Nanshan District, in the tallest tower of the Houhai financial district. Raffles' own site says Shenzhen Bay Port is within walking distance, and booking platforms measure about 600 m — a nine-minute walk — to Shenzhen Bay Port Station on Line 13, making it the closest five-star to the border in this guide. There are 168 rooms from 60 sq m, a two-Michelin-star restaurant and a 350 m sky helipad. Good for anniversaries, or a sea-view stay before an early crossing.
📍 Address: T7, One Shenzhen Bay, 3008 Zhongxin Road, Nanshan|🚇 About 600 m (9-minute walk) to Shenzhen Bay Port Station (Line 13)|💰 From US$374 per night (Trip.com); about HK$2,940 on other platforms
9. Andaz Shenzhen Bay
2600 Keyuan South Road, Nanshan District, opened in 2020 and designed by Tony Chi, with Shenzhen Bay MixC directly downstairs. Booking platforms show about 800 m — roughly 12 minutes — on foot from Talent Park Station on Line 13, so you ride one stop from the port and walk the rest; the hotel also sits beside Shenzhen Talent Park and the Spring Cocoon stadium for evening waterfront walks. Around 200 rooms plus five restaurants and bars make it the area's photogenic design hotel. Rates are steep, which suits couples or a weekend staycation combined with an early crossing.
📍 Address: 2600 Keyuan South Road, Nanshan|🚇 About 800 m to Talent Park Station (Line 13), one stop from the port|💰 From HK$2,821 per night (Trip.com, rated 9.5/10)
10. IntercityHotel Shenzhen Bay
3368 Binhai Avenue, Nanshan District — the same IntercityHotel brand as the Huanggang property above. Its website says Coastal City and Shenzhen Bay MixC are a 10–12 minute walk away, that it sits beside the Shenzhen Bay sports centre and Talent Park, and that both Houhai and Shenda South metro stations are close. Four stars, breakfast around ¥78, and the cheapest tier in the Shenzhen Bay area; Trip.com rates it 9.7/10, which makes it the practical pick for staying in Nanshan on a budget.
📍 Address: 3368 Binhai Avenue, Nanshan|🚇 Near Houhai / Shenda South stations; 10–12 minutes on foot to Shenzhen Bay MixC|💰 From HK$347 per night (Trip.com)
Five practical tips for a border-side overnight stay
- Ask about check-out first. An early train usually means leaving before 05:00. Most hotels allow check-out before 12:00, but some charge an extra night — simply ask "can I check out in the early morning?"
- Use luggage storage. If you are staying one night and sightseeing the next day, free left-luggage service beats dragging bags to the border.
- Plan for the small hours. New Huanggang Port is a restricted zone with no private car park and no ride-hailing pick-up, so late-night travellers rely on designated buses, minibuses or their own feet. A genuinely walkable hotel beats one that is "10 minutes by car".
- Bring the right ID. Mainland hotels must register guests in person; the Home Return Permit or a Hong Kong/Macau Residence Permit works (the HK identity card does not). Small hotels rarely have issues hosting Hong Kong guests, but confirm before booking.
- Expect rate swings. Weekends can cost 30–40% more than weekdays, and trade fairs, concerts and long holidays can double the price. Compare the hotel's own site with booking platforms.
If you only need somewhere to sleep and would rather skip a hotel bill, 24-hour spa and bath houses are an option: Mingyang Spa is a five-minute walk from Luohu Port, and TENZ sits near Futian Checkpoint, with entry from about ¥79.
FAQ
Is Huanggang Port really open 24 hours?
Yes. The Shenzhen Port Office states that New Huanggang Port provides 24-hour passenger clearance from 06:30 on 12 October 2026, and that the old temporary terminal and the Lok Ma Chau control point on the Hong Kong side stopped passenger clearance at 06:30 the same day. Check the latest official notice before travelling.
How long is the walk from these hotels to Luohu Port?
It depends on the property: Shangri-La Shenzhen publishes an 8-minute walk; Innogo Hotel Shenzhen (Luohu Port) is about 480 m from the port; Felicity Hotel Shenzhen sits opposite the port at the railway station's west exit; and Huaqiao Hotel Shenzhen is about 700 m from Luohu Station. All four are within a 15-minute walk.
Does Shenzhen Bay Port have a metro station, and when is the last train?
Yes — Shenzhen Bay Port Station on Line 13, running 06:30 to 23:00 according to official timetables, one stop to Talent Park and two to Houhai. The northern extension of Line 13 opened on 28 June 2026, so you can now ride towards Shiyan and Guangming in one go.
Which area should I book if I need to cross after midnight?
Futian or Huanggang. Of the three road crossings, only New Huanggang Port operates 24 hours; Futian Checkpoint closes at 22:30, and Luohu and Shenzhen Bay ports close at 24:00. IntercityHotel Shenzhen Futian Huanggang on Fumin Road is about 500 m — a 5–7 minute walk — from Huanggang Port, which makes it the best fit for a post-midnight crossing.
Do the rates include breakfast?
Mostly not. Mid-range and above usually offer room-only and breakfast-included rates, with a gap of roughly ¥100–150; IntercityHotel breakfast is about ¥78 per person. Read the rate conditions carefully and treat the hotel's own site or booking platform as the final word.
