Winter in Shenzhen is best spent indoors — but not in a shopping mall. Book a room with its own private hot-spring tub, cross the border, and walk straight from the car into a steaming pool, then dessert, a projector movie and the sound of waves. Locals call it one room, one tub. One caveat: nearly all of these rooms are on the Dapeng Peninsula (Jiaochangwei, Nan'ao, Guanhu), with a couple along the Yantian coast at Dameisha. Downtown Luohu, Futian, Nanshan and Longhua have no in-room hot-spring hotels at all. This guide covers six real properties with addresses, transport, room types and reference rates, plus how to get there from Luohu Port and Shenzhen North station in Longhua, and the 2026 winter rules for driving into Dapeng.
Three things to clear up about Shenzhen's private hot springs
1. An in-room tub is not a geothermal spring. Shenzhen has very few genuine hot springs — the ones that exist are at Mission Hills Landscape Park (觀瀾山水田園, Guanlan, Longhua), Shiyan Lake Resort in Bao'an and Interlaken OCT in Yantian — and all of them are shared outdoor pools, not private in-room ones (we cover those in a separate article). The private onsen rooms on Dapeng use heated mountain-spring water or temperature-controlled tubs. Room names usually say constant-temperature hot spring or raw-stone soaking tub. Do not expect a Japanese sulphur spring.
2. Downtown Luohu and Longhua have no in-room hot spring. If you want to stay downtown and soak, your only option is a public spa complex; otherwise you head out to Dapeng or Yantian. That is why Luohu and Longhua feature in this article as the two gateways most Hong Kong readers use — Luohu Port and Shenzhen North station.
3. In the same guesthouse, not every room has a tub. Only rooms whose names contain private hot spring, soaking tub or hot spring have a pool inside; the cheapest room usually has a bathtub only. Always specify the room type when booking.
Getting to Dapeng in winter: from Luohu Port and Shenzhen North (Longhua)
At 10:18 on 28 December 2025, Xichong station on Metro Line 8 Phase 3 opened, a 3.69 km extension from Xiaomeisha station in Yantian to Xichong in Dapeng New District, running through-services with Lines 2 and 8. It is Dapeng's first metro station, and because the line runs through from Liantang Port station, Hong Kong readers can now reach the peninsula by metro instead of a full-length bus ride. Exit C at Xichong connects to the Xichong Metro Station bus stop, served by routes E90, E91, E92, M456 and peak route 245. For Jiaochangwei, Dapeng Fortress and Dongshan Temple, take E91: ¥5, running 05:30-20:30.
| Starting point | Option | Journey time | Fare (reference) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Luohu Port | Didi or ride-hailing straight to Dapeng Fortress or Jiaochangwei | About 1-1.5 hours | About ¥100-130 |
| Luohu Port | Walk 6 minutes to the Railway Station bus stop, take E17 (¥10) to Luosha Road Liantang, change to E11 (¥10) to Dapeng Centre, then M471 or M457 | About 2.5 hours | About ¥22 |
| Luohu Port | Metro: Luohu station (Line 1) to Grand Theatre, transfer to Line 2 to Liantang Port station, then E11, or stay on Line 8 to Xichong | About 2 hours | From about ¥16 |
| Shenzhen North station (Longhua) | Route E11: Shenzhen North transport hub to Xinda terminus (Nan'ao), calling at Luohu Stadium, Liantang, Kuichong Centre, Dapeng Centre, Shuitou Market and Nan'ao Subdistrict Office | About 1.5 hours end to end | ¥10 (06:00-21:30) |
| Liantang Port | Metro from Liantang Port station to Xichong on Line 8, then E91 from Exit C to Jiaochangwei and Dapeng Fortress | About 35 min metro + 30 min bus | From ¥6 metro + ¥5 bus |
Coming back late is fine: Dapeng New District runs an Xichong night express bus, a flat ¥10, from Xinda bus terminus (near Luzui Villa and Yangmeikeng) and Dapeng Centre (next to the Jiaochangwei guesthouse cluster). The last departure from Xinda is 23:20 and the last connection back at Xichong metro station is 00:50, so you can still reach Luohu by metro after a late soak.

Staff will fill the tub and adjust the water temperature, each room has a projector, and Nan'ao First Beach is 270 metres away.

- Why it stands out: the room names literally say one room, one spring — the 48 sq m Bolin one-room-one-spring palm garden king room with a wabi-sabi private hot pool, the 70 sq m Tianxu one-bedroom sea-view suite with a 270-degree massage pool, and the 60 sq m Youtan one-room-one-courtyard private-spring twin room. Pools are enclosed on all sides for privacy, and you can add singing-bowl sound therapy or Thai oil massage.
- Getting there: E11 to Nan'ao then a short ride, or Xichong station then a transfer into Nan'ao. Close to Nan'ao First Beach and Haibei Bay, on the way to Judiaosha and Yangmeikeng.

Guests report that the manager adjusts the water for you and supplies bath bombs; some rooms have a projector and KTV.

The 38 sq m Guanhailan sea-view balcony private-spring king room has a 270-degree balcony pool facing the sea, and the guesthouse opens straight onto the sand.

Guanhu Beach is a 3-5 minute walk along 7.2 km of coastline, and breakfast, afternoon tea and a night-time sweet soup are included.
- Getting there: bus M568 to Guanhu Community Police Office, then about a 100-metre walk; by car, navigate to Guanhu Village, about an hour from Luohu Port.
- Rates: Trip.com quoted from HK$439 per night in October; one blogger reported spending over ¥600 per person including food and photography. Rates vary by several hundred Hong Kong dollars between low and peak season.
Also worth knowing: if your trip centres on Liantang Port, there is one more soaking-pool guesthouse on the Yantian side — Yingman Sea-View Pool Resort in Dameisha, with 403 reviews and a 9.2 rating on Trip.com and rates quoted from HK$537 per night in October, three minutes from the seafront. It is faster to reach than Dapeng: take Metro Line 8 from Liantang Port station to Dameisha station and then a short ride. As everywhere on this list, confirm whether your room has a soaking pool or only a bathtub.

Seven things to know before you book (winter)
- 1. Read the room name. Only rooms labelled private hot spring, soaking tub or hot spring have water in the room; a bathtub does not count. Message the property to confirm the room has its own heated pool.
- 2. Book early in peak season. Jiaochangwei's private-spring rooms are among the most sought-after in Shenzhen. Christmas, Lunar New Year and Valentine's dates sell out two to three months ahead; weekdays and Sundays are the best value.
- 3. No vehicle permit needed in winter. Dapeng's reservation system only applies on weekends and public holidays from 1 May to 7 October 2026 in this cycle. From November to April, including Christmas and Lunar New Year, you can drive in without a booking. The controlled area covers all roads south of, and including, Diefushan Tunnel; cars with nine seats or fewer must book through the Shenzhen Traffic Police WeChat account or have their hotel book on their behalf, and entering without a reservation draws a ¥300 fine and one penalty point.
- 4. You can manage without a car. Metro Line 8 plus E91 (¥5) reaches Jiaochangwei, and the Xichong night express bus (¥10) runs late.
- 5. Bring your own toiletries. Since 28 May 2020 Shenzhen hotels no longer provide disposable toothbrushes, combs or razors by default. Pack a toothbrush, swimwear and bath salts.
- 6. Leave early at weekends. A Saturday morning drive from Luohu to Dapeng can take two hours. Aim to set off before 09:00, or travel on a Sunday or a weekday.
- 7. Some properties are pet-friendly. Miyue Roman Holiday allows cats and dogs at no extra charge; most others charge, so ask first.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Shenzhen hotel with a genuine geothermal hot spring in the room?
Genuine geothermal resources in Shenzhen are limited to Mission Hills Landscape Park in Guanlan (Longhua), Shiyan Lake Resort in Bao'an and Interlaken OCT in Yantian, and all three are shared bathing areas rather than one pool per room. The private onsen rooms that appear in guides are Dapeng guesthouses where the in-room pool is heated mountain-spring water or a temperature-controlled tub — cleaner and entirely under your own control.
How long and how much is it from Luohu Port to Jiaochangwei?
Based on 2025 research: Didi or ride-hailing takes about 1-1.5 hours for roughly ¥100-130; buses take about 2.5 hours for about ¥22; metro plus bus is roughly 2 hours for about ¥16. The most comfortable middle ground is a car to Xichong station, then E91.
Do I need a vehicle permit for Dapeng in winter?
No. Under the Shenzhen Traffic Police notice, the reservation system applies on all weekends and public holidays from 1 May to 7 October 2026. From November to April, and on all weekdays, cars with nine seats or fewer can enter Dapeng freely.
Which property is cheapest and which is most expensive?
At reference rates the cheapest entry point is Nice Inn at Guanhu (from HK$439, though private-spring rooms cost more). Semporna and Mengyuan Bian at Jiaochangwei start around HK$9xx in low season and HK$1,5xx in peak. The top end is Miyue Roman Holiday (from HK$1,202) and HEY VILLA's 270-degree sea-view massage-pool suite at about HK$2,292.
Can I get there without a car?
Yes. Metro Line 8 now reaches Xichong station (opened 28 December 2025); Exit C connects to E91 (¥5) for Jiaochangwei and Dapeng Fortress, and Liantang Port station runs through to Xichong on the same line. The Xichong night express bus runs until 00:50.
What do Hong Kong visitors need for entry and payment?
A Home Return Permit is enough at the checkpoint. Guesthouses and hotels accept WeChat Pay HK, AlipayHK and cards for bookings and payment, and mobile QR payment is standard on site. Some booking platforms send a confirmation SMS to a mainland number, so have one available or choose a platform that works with your Hong Kong number.
