🌐 Foreigner-friendly booking platforms
- Trip.com — the easiest for English speakers: foreign passport accepted, clear pricing, wide selection, and often good cancellation terms. Highly recommended for your first trip.
- Booking.com / Agoda / Expedia — work fine; some properties are also listed here, sometimes at a premium over local rates.
- Hotels.com — similar to Booking.com; good for loyalty points.
🇨🇳 Chinese platforms (cheaper, need Chinese)
- Meituan (美团) and Ctrip (携程) (the Chinese Trip.com) often have lower rates — but they require a Chinese interface and phone number for the best deals.
- If a Chinese-speaking friend can book for you, you can save 10-30%. Otherwise stick with Trip.com for peace of mind.
📋 Documents & check-in
- Passport is mandatory. Hotels register foreign guests with the local police — have your passport ready at the front desk.
